Glad to see Andrew Conlon won last week's election. For those who did not read my letter to the editor in the Greece Post, I came out in support of Andy, despite being a former Greece Democrat. That's right folks--former Greece Democrat. And truth be told, I do not wear flip flops of any kind. Never have and never will.

The 3rd Ward needs an elected official who understands the neighborhood, someone who believes in the neighborhood and sees the possibilities. Not one who just assumed residence by marriage. So the voters voted, and they selected the right candidate!!!!

Good things are coming to the Barnard Neighborhood. Including the brand new Barnard Neighborhood Association.

Chief Baxter is NOT Merritt Rahn

That's right citizens of Greece. Chief Todd Baxter is NOT Merritt Rahn and he should not be compared to him. It's unfortunate that a certain other blogger has nothing better to do but compare Chief Baxter to Merritt Rahn's reign.

Chief Baxter has brought change to the Police Department. Whether people want to admit it or not. It's a positive change. Some Greece residents are resistant to change so they have to complain about it on a daily basis and find fault in everything. They seem to want to dwell on the past and can't seem to move forward. Chief Baxter has been open and honest unlike John Auberger. Who can't recall anything. Merritt Rahn may have not been open and honest but that was because John Auberger was pulling his strings. Maybe, just maybe, our dysfunctional Town Supervisor saw the light last November, when half of the Town voted against him. Mr. Auberger needs to remember that he works for the tax payers, it's not the other way around.

So Mr. Auberger when you and your Town Board try to hide your 6.5% raise in the budget, know that we are on to you. Interesting to note, when I contacted the Town two weeks ago to inquire what one could do to have Mr. Auberger removed from office, no one returned my phone call. My call was forwarded to the Town Clerk's Office and she has yet to call me back. How is that for Constitutent Services? And Kathryn Firkins thinks she's entitled to a raise?

And John Auberger has the audacity to tell a member of a neighborhood organization that the reason why no one from Town Hall is speaking at their meetings, is because of their "Meet the Candidate Night" last year where Mr. Auberger was placed in the hot seat. We all know how Mr. I Can't Recall Auberger hates to be placed in that position.

There is supposed to be a community hearing later this month to discuss the budget. Which I am sure has already been secretly passed since that's the way I Can't Recall Auberger does business.

Remember when you call 911 and are in need of emergency assistance, it's our Greece Police Department that comes to your aid. It's these police officers that have continued to do their job despite the constant negative criticism via the media, community and other blog sites. These are the officers who should hold their heads up high and be proud for protecting and serving the citizens of Greece.

Juror # 9 Speaks to Northgate Neighbors Group

I was not in attendance for last evening's Northgate Neighbors Community Meeting. Juror # 9 was the guest speaker and it was just what the community needs to hear. Why do we have a Town Supervisor who can't recall? I've been asking this very question since last November. Interesting Mr. Auberger was not in attendance last night nor was he available for comment as reported on the WHAM 13 website. And as for the infamous Joseph Loszynski report, it will be a complete work of fiction that the hard working Greece taxpayers have funded. Talk about a travesty. Politics as usual under the Auberger administration and Joe Loszynski is still on the payroll.

Does Rahn's Conviction Really Bring Closure to Greece?

Various media outlets are reporting the same headline touting how Rahn's conviction brings closure to Greece. But does it really when we still have so many unanswered questions? And all the evidence that Judge Affronti refused to allow John Parrinello bring into the case. How can you believe a bunch of liars who all got deals from the DA's office? How can you trust a Town Supervisor that lies everytime he moves his lips? How can you trust a Town Supervisor who "CAN'T RECALL." Seems like Mr. Auberger can't recall that he almost lost his job a few months ago because he is still lying. A leopard never changes his spots. So Mr. Auberger where is that Loszynski report that you have promised us on several occasions. Or don't you recall telling us Loszynkski's investigation was completed back before Labor Day? I am sure the Loszynski Report will be of absolutely no value since it will be missing all the pieces as to where the trail leads back to...One Vince Tofany Boulevard.

The Lynching of Merritt Rahn

In court yestarday Former Seargeant Robert Trowbridge admitted he changed his testimony. Which would then make him a liar correct? What a surprise! Seems like we have quite a few of these liars working for the Town of Greece. Starting with "I don't recall" Auberger. The biggest liar of them all.

So tell us Mr. Auberger why you aren't releasing the Loszynski report? You have been telling the people of Greece since last September that the report is complete and that Mr. Loszynski would be wrapping up his investigation before Labor Day. It has now been an entire year since you hired the so-called Independent investigation to try to cover your own misdeeds. What's the continued delay with this report? Will the truth ever come out? Or will you wait until your four years as Town Supervisor are up before you release it? And how truthful will the report be since it's not at all independent in any manner? What's the price tag to date on Loszynski's investigation?

The Merritt Rahn Trial Continues...

The drama at the Hall of Justice continues as we speak. It's almost comical in some regard. I certainly hope the jurors are able to see clearly what is actually going on. It's unbelievable that Judge Affronti (a Republican no less) is refusing to allow John Parrinello to ask the questions that clearly lead back to John Auberger. Another shining example of crooked Republican politics at play in a court house. This is why judges should not be elected based on political party.

Again, Merritt Rahn is no angel. But then neither is our very own Town Supervisor, John Auberger. Or all the GPD officers who are covering Auberger's very own butt. It's unfortunate that politics are continuing to take a role in the Greece Police Department. How very very sad indeed. As long as Auberger is interfering and controlling the police department what do we expect? Give to the Auberger Election campaign, tow the line and you too can be promoted.

"I Don't Recall" Auberger to Testify in Rahn Trial Today!

I will be heading up to the Hall of Justice to hear our very own Town Supervisor testify in the Merritt Rahn trial today. I want to hear firsthand, his famous last words...."I DON'T RECALL."

It should make for an interesting day having John Parrinello question John Auberger. Merritt Rahn is no saint but neither is John Auberger. He knows alot more than he's admitting he knows. So let's count how many times he will utter the words "I don't recall".

Will he recall hiring Merritt Rahn as Chief of Police? Will he recall having to go downtown to testify today? Will he recall that half of the Town of Greece didn't vote for him? Will he recall even living in the Town of Greece? How long has he actually lived in the Town of Greece?

I want to see Auberger sweat today in the witness stand. And Parrinello will make him sweat and that's not POPPYCOCK.

Looks like it will be an interesting week for our town starting on Monday with Merritt Rahn's trial set to begin. I don't always agree with John Parrinello, but I do agree with his statement that Rahn is being used as a scapegoat for ineffective leadership. I have said it numerous times on this blog that if Auberger did indeed NOT know what was going on with regard to the various scandals, then that would make him ineffective as a leader. Let's not forget that half of the Town of Greece knows this to be the truth.

Quoted in today's paper: "The trial is going to be an expose of Auberger's administration and his lack of control for what occurred in the Police Department." Parrinello said. "Auberger was key to Pignato's hiring."

Ever notice how Auberger won't take responsibility for the bad things yet when something good happens in our town, he is the first to claim it was because of his doing. Example, the Greece Post reported that it was his idea along with Chief Todd Baxter's idea to institute the Dewey Avenue Detail. What a load of crap that is! Auberger and his co horts on the Town Board turned a blind eye for years to the happenings in the Dewey Stone area. Now he wants us to believe he has changed his mind? If he has, it's because of pressure or because he has seen the light that half of the Town did NOT vote for him last November. So before you morons from Morons Ranting start commenting, or shall I say, try to comment on this blog. The election results spoke for themselves. Auberger won by the nick of his teeth. Half of the Town of Greece is on to Auberger's antics and his fellow Republican cronies.

With the Rahn trial set to begin tomorrow it makes for an entertaining week in the life of John Auberger. The public will finally get some answers and learn about his Republican dictatorship in the Town of Greece. Unless, Rahn cops out and takes a plea deal which I am sure Auberger is hoping he will do. No pun intended on the "COP OUT" statement.

How ridiculous is the no physical contact rule at Athena Middle School? No hugging, no holding, no high fives for middle school students. And the teachers are responsible for monitoring the halls to make sure this rule is enforced.

How about instituting the same rule at Greece Olympia High School and the other High Schools where teenagers are allowed to kiss and fondle in the school hall ways. No wonder there are so many teen pregnancies at Greece Olympia.

Why not have the same rule in every single school within the district? It seems discriminatory that it is not.

Northgate Neighbors Community Meeting Tonight

Northgate Neighbors will hold their monthly meeting this evening at 7:00 PM at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church (located at 4115 Dewey Avenue).

One of the guest speakers is Leo Carroll from the Town who will discuss assessments. I'm surprised Auberger is allowing him to address the community, let alone NGN.

Also speaking at the meeting will be Paul Chatfield of Chatfield Engineers. He will be discussing the Dewey Avenue Business Roundtable. The discussion group started by the Greece Chamber of Commerce, in their attempt to at least try to show their support to the businesses in the neglected corridor since Auberger could care less.

So tell us Town Supervisor has the Town pursued any economic development in the area of Dewey Stone other than Walmart? Eckerd has been empty for years. The VOA store is empty. Instead of building new office space why not rent the ones already available?

At the April meeting of NGN, Greece Superintendent of Schools will be discussing his budget.

Whining Republicans On Capitol Hill Inciting Violence-What a Surprise!

When Republicans can't get their way they whine. Look at Minority Leader, John A. Boehner (R-Ohio). What a performance he put in on Capital Hill over the weekend. He could win an Academy Award for his theatrics.

"You can only ignore the will of the people for so long and get away with it." Said Mr. Boehner. And he couldn't be more accurate. For 8 years we had Bush politics shoved down our throat. We have two wars and have lost thousands of soldiers all under the disguise of locating weapons of mass destruction. The only weapons of mass destruction are the Republicans. They have proven over and over they could care less about the working class in the United States. They could not come up with any ideas for Health Care Reform because they are happy with the status quo.

How much has the war in Iraq and Afghanistan cost the American tax payer? Now the Republicans want to talk about fiscal conservatisism and they are worried about the the costs of health care. What a joke!

We had 8 years of Total Republican control. And now that the shoe is on the other foot the Republicans are whining and crying partisanship.

The Health Care Reform Act may not be the best, but it's a start and we have a long way to go with health care in this country.

And leave it to the REPUBLICANTS to incite violence because they can't get their way. Throwing bricks through windows. That's really something to be proud of.

Change is Coming to the Dewey Stone Area!

I had the opportunity to meet our new Chief of Police Todd Baxter at last night's Community Meeting which I might add was well attended. It was the first in a series of several. And it was fitting that the first one be held in the sector which has suffered the most with regard to crime. In the past we have been advised by the Police Department, "It was a neighborhood in transition." but there was never a plan of action. Well, Chief Baxter is changing that. We will now see some pro-active police work in the Dewey Stone area with officers walking the beat as part of a Dewey Avenue Corridor Detail. This is a first for us. Just like the community meeting with a Greece Police Chief was a first.

He brought up some interesting facts last night. The Dewey Stone area is the area that gets the highest 911 service calls for GPD. Which is contrary to what we have always been told in the past by the Town of Greece. Oh, there's no increase in crime in the area blah blah blah. Guess Auberger can't cover up a triple homicide.

Finally we have someone bringing back trust, honesty and integrity to our police department. Which was sadly missing thanks to the antics of our Town Supervisor, John Auberger. Yes, you did win in November, but it was by the skin of your teeth.

Let's hope we can finally keep politics out of the Greece Police Department.

Doesn't Auberger's Office Communicate With the Community?

Why on earth is the Town of Greece once again holding their Annual Spring Clean Up Day on the very same day as the Greece Community Garage Sale on Saturday, May 1st? This is not the first time both events were held on the same day. Doesn't the Town of Greece communicate with the Greece Education Foundation? You would like to think so. But then Auberger has always done things his own way.

The Annual Spring Clean Up Day is being billed as a community wide-event but then again so is the Greece Community Garage Sale. Perhaps the Town should communicate better within the School District before planning events that are supposed to involve the entire community. If you are participating as a vendor at the Garage Sale there is no way you can be at the Clean Up Day. It's too bad our elected Towu Council Members weren't more aware of what is actually happening in the neighborhoods they are supposed to be representing, But then again, election day has already come and gone. So why would they care about their constituents?

Remembering Sue Winnett of the Shaggy Dog

On Valentine's Day, this world lost a lovely woman. Sue Winnett died unexpectedly. She was the owner of The Shaggy Dog located at 2775 Dewey Avenue. A dog grooming business that has been around forever in this area. She will be sadly missed by her family, loved ones, customers, this neighborhood and all the dogs that she took such loving care of. Rest in Peace beautiful lady you are surrounded by all those dogs that beat you to heaven and now sit beside you.

The Town of Greece is hosting a series of Meet and Greet's to introduce us to our new Chief of Police.

Will we be able to ask him questions? Or will Supervisor Auberger be in attendance to monitor what the new Chief can say and not say?

I have a couple friends who work in the RPD and speak very highly of Captain Baxter. They tell me he may run into trouble because he is non-political.

So I have to ask, how can a Town run by REPUBLICANT's have a Police Chief that is non-political? I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but we can't forget who signs his paycheck and also who was responsible for the scandals of last year--aka also the Dictator who does all the hiring and firing within the police department.

Welcome Dan Maloney & Charlie Ennis to NGN Board!

A big huge welcome to new Northgate Neighbors Executive Board Members, Dan Maloney and Charlie Ennis. With new people come fresh new ideas which are badly needed on the NGN Executive Board. These two individuals bring a vast amount of experience and passion to the Board. I for one am very happy that they have joined. They truly care about the neighborhood and are long time residents so they have witnessed the changes that have occurred over the years.

I'm hoping this year will bring some goals and objectives to the Executive Board at NGN. Other than the usual monthly newsletter and typical community meetings. New steps need to be taken to identify new members while still keeping the loyal members happy. I would also like to see businesses join the NGN. What we need to do is ask the NGN members what they are looking for from a community organization? And does NGN deliver? If not, we need to work to improve that.

I would be amiss if I did not mention the fact that no one from Town Hall was in attendance at last week's meeting, even though they were notified and asked to speak weeks in advance. I was delighted to see Andy Conlon in attendance, but that does not make up for the poor behavior exemplified by John Auberger and his employees. With everyone who works at Town Hall, one could not make themselves available? Kathryn Firkins what is your title again? And just who are your constituents? Or don't they count anymore now that election day is over???

On Sabbatical

Two weeks ago my only sister suffered a stroke. At the age of 73, the prognosis is not good. Today the doctors at Strong informed the family they would be sending her home on hospice. They say she suffered a catastropic stroke and don't see her making any improvement. She also has severe heart disease and the doctors gave her three weeks to three months and added that if she makes it six months to a year they will be very surprised.

This news on top of having lost a very dear friend of mine to heart disease at the age of 40, I am not writing as regularly. Both my brothers suffered heart attacks, one actually had two and died on the operating table in August, but was brought back to life. I'm now taking a sabbatical. I am still here but focusing on the important things in life. I'm not dealing with the sarcastic stupid remarks from Republicans or any others right now.

MC Department of Parks & Recreation's Failure to Enforce Rules at Dog Park

It has been five months since the Monroe County Dog Park officially opened. Responsible pet owners like myself paid the $ 24.00 registration fee having had to show proof of rabies vaccination and Town license. As of this date, the Monroe County Department of Parks and Recreation has done nothing to enforce the established rules. A Monroe County employee stated the following: " MC Parks is not an enforcement agency and has never claimed to have been. We encourage you to call 911 as is stated in the regulations if you see someone abusing them."

Frequent registered users of the Dog Park have called 911 on certain occasions and have gotten no response from the Greece Police Department. How is that for customer service?

It's the non-registered users who don't clean up after their dogs and chances are their dogs are not current on any vaccinations. It is people like that that are putting other healthy dogs at risk. And what if the owners of one of these non-registered dogs attacks another dog?

If Monroe County Department of Parks and Recreation is NOT going to enforce the rules and regulations at the Dog Park then they should make it a free dog park and refund our money. Or they should appoint a team of volunteers to monitor the park to enforce the rules and regulations. Which is something Larry Staub is not interested in doing.

Why should responsible pet owners have to foot the bill for irresponsible pet owners? Why should we have to leave the park when non-registered dogs who don't belong at a dog park enter the park? And what about the non-registered owners who have no clue as to dog behavior or how dogs actually play?

Welcome RPD Captain Todd Baxter

It's almost official, the Town of Greece has a new police chief. Auberger made the announcement today that Rochester Police Captain Todd Baxter will now lead the Greece Police Department. Baxter was one of four top candidates that the town had to choose from. He was chosen over acting Chief Brian Uhrmacher. Which shows you, once again it's politics not people as usual in the Town of Greece. It's John Auberger's way or no way. Dictatorship 101. Apparently, a Town Board Meeting is being scheduled to actually approve this selection. Not that any of those Republican Drones that serve on Town Board would actually question anything their God Auberger does or says. Perhaps this is why Loszynski is still on the payroll because he had to investigate and be involved in the hiring of our new Police Chief.

Will anything change in the Greece Police Department? Will patrols be increased in the crime ridden neighborhoods of the 14616 area? The only time you ever see a patrol officer is after the fact or when a crime has occurred. Keep in mind Rand Street is a mere 2-3 miles away. Rand Street was the site of several shootings and a stabbing last week within and over a 24-48 hour period. Just blocks away. But Auberger wants you to believe there is no crime in the Town of Greece. The biggest crime was his being re-elected. Everyone who voted for him will be crying when they get their new tax bills. The money for the impending lawsuits has to come from somewhere. But you did get your roads plowed, if you live close to Town Hall that is or made a donation to Auberger's campaign.

Loszynski Still on the Job and Auberger still Lying!

Why is Joseph Loszynski still on the job? When our very own Town Supervisor told us several times the investigation was complete. He was directly asked this question in various public forums prior to his re-election. So here we are nine months later and we are still paying for Mr. Loszynski and John Auberger continues to lie. Jeff Mc Cann told YNN News in late August that Loszynski would be wrapping up his investigation around Labor Day. At the Nortgate Neighbors Meet the Candidate Night John Auberger told the audience that Loszynski's investigation was indeed complete. So I ask you now Mr. Auberger why is he still on the payroll????

Superintendent Achramovitch and his Shining Examples!

Will we miss Superintendent Achramovitch when he is gone? Has he done anything for Greece Central School District during his tenure? How much could he have accomplished if the School Board is really the one who controls the show? Politics as usual in the Town of Greece.

But here is yet another story that shows what is clearly wrong in our schools.

A friend of a friend's son, an honor roll student at Greece Olympia High School was suspended an entire week because he made the comment, "Gross!" to two gay students who were kissing directly next to his locker. He was suspended for not being tolerant of his fellow gay students.

You have got to be kidding me! You have two students clearly engaging in inappropriate behavior whether they be gay or heterosexual! And the honor roll student gets suspended and those two get nothing not even a reprimand for their behavior. This friend has since removed his son from Greece Olympia High School and I can't say I blame him.

Why should an honor roll student minding his own business have to witness explicit kissing between two people of the same sex right in front of his locker? He shouldn't have to witness explicit kissing between two heterosexual students either. Why is this type of behavior acceptable in a school environment? What has become of our school district? What a joke it actually is. Where are the teachers? Why are they allowing these types of activities in school? You have to wonder what's going on in the restrooms. Elementary school students are not allowed to hug one another yet our high school students can dare I say, "Suck face" in the hall and it's acceptable?

Greece Police Resorting to Bad Behavior Once Again?

Here we are fresh into a new year and it seems that some of our Greece Police Officers are resorting once again to bad behavior. How could that be? You would think they would have learned something. Also, if you recall, I wasn't one to jump on the band wagon and say all of the officers in the Town of Greece are bad when news of last year's scandals were made public. However, the following incident is totally inappropriate.

A neighbor who lives a few streets over from me brought this information to my attention. Several weeks ago the carcass of a deer was found in the parking lot of the Affordable Funeral Home on the corner of Dewey and Barnard Street. Police were under the impression that the juvenile delinquent teenagers who live in the vicinity might be responsible and had been questioning them. My neighbor saw the deer and the telltale paw prints of another animal (possibly coyote) and approached the Greece Police Officer to inquire what was going on. The Officer asked him if he lived in the neighborhood, he responded in the affirmative. The Greece Police Officer then told him to mind his own business. How's that for customer service in the Greece Police Department? A concerned neighbor wondering what is going on in his very own neighborhood, treated in such a rude manner.

Has anyone else had a recent encounter with one of our police officers and been treated in a similar manner?

Northgate Neighbors OPEN Board Seats

The NorthGate Neighbors are soon to begin our sixth year as a community organization. Our original focus was centered upon the disgraceful condition of Northgate Plaza. Although the plaza has not changed, we have expanded our sphere of interest and influence to include the entire Dewey Corridor, from the river to Rt. 390 and from the City to the lake.

We anticipate a particularly interesting and challenging year in 2010 because shovels are expected in the ground this spring at Northgate and we (with your help) intend to oversee all activities relative to the plaza project during, as well as after the construction and ultimate revitalization of this plaza. This project needs to be safe for residents and as unobtrusive as possible for the few remaining businesses and the nearby neighbors during the construction phases.

The NorthGate Neighbors Executive Board is due for our annual election of board members. At this point, we have six of the nine potential board positions occupied. . This is a great time for you to consider how rewarding it would be for you to step up and join us on the board, serving your community. We are looking for candidates to serve with us on the Executive Board to help us ensure that things happening in our neighborhood, benefit our neighborhood.

Dewey Avenue Sidewalks ATROCIOUS

Just finished a morning walk with my dog and noticed the main sidewalks along Dewey Avenue from Stone Road to Barnard Street are atrocious, difficult to walk in and here it is close to 10:00 AM. Why aren't these sidewalks shoveled or plowed? I'm not talking about residential sidewalks, these are main walkways that include the sidealk near the Barnard Library. These are sidewalks that alot of younger children must walk on to catch their bus. I see Greece Town employees collecting Christmas Trees for recycling, but are sidewalks are not plowed? Guess only the siewalks at Town Hall get special treatment. John Auberger and the rest of his Republican Cronies could care less about the Dewey Stone/Northgate Corridor!!!! Why am I not surprised? Where are you Andy Conlon? Shannon O'Keefe? You got your votes now you could care less.

On December 30, 2009 between 2:18 am and 4:30 am a German Shepherd named Buddy was dragged to death at the Colorado National Monument. Joan Anzelmo, superintendent of the monument, identified the suspect as Steven Clay Romero, 37, of Grand Junction.

She said Romero is alleged to have stolen the dog — Buddy, a German shepherd-blue heeler mix — from people in Delta. He allegedly took the dog to the Colorado National Monument early Wednesday, tied the dog to his truck and dragged the dog. Paw prints in the snow were found to show Buddy at first walking, then running, then dragging, for 3 miles. A surveillance video showed a truck entering the monument at 2:18 am with a dog in the bed of the truck, it showed the same truck leaving at 2:30 with no dog. Witnesses said Romero said he was going to kill the dog, another said he saw Romero leave the residence with the dog. Romero faces one count of aggravated cruelty towards animals. If convicted, the penalty is a maximum of three years in federal prison and a fine of $100,000, and one year of mandatory parole. Anzelmo said she believes additional charges may be filed against Romero.

The goal of the Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/?filter=app_2361831622#/group.php?gid=266340154528&ref=nf) and petition is to see to it that Steven Romero spends every single minute of those three years in jail and a fine of $100,000 plus the one year of mandatory parole.

Should there be any sympathy towards Mr Romero, let me add one thing. According to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel on Dec 31st, Romero was quoted as saying:
“I don’t get it,” he said, sitting alone at the defendant’s table. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Heldmyer then rose from her seat, walked toward Romero and tossed a copy of the charges on the table in front of him.

Heldmyer told U.S. Magistrate Judge Laird Milburn she will ask for Romero’s continued detention during Monday’s hearing.

“So, in other words I’ll be sitting in jail and probably lose my job, too?” Romero asked Milburn.

“Yes,” the judge responded.

Excellus BC BS and Health Care Reform

There is an interesting article in today's local paper regarding the Senate's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that was passed on Christmas Eve. Wasn't it nice to see our elected representatives working hard for once on a holiday? The first time they've worked on a holiday since 1963. But that's a side note.

It may not be the best bill, but we have to start somewhere. So all you snickering people against the bill complaining it's going to cost too much. Let's not forget how much the Iraqi war is costing us. No one batted an eye when George Bush decided to occupy a country.

But I'm degressing from my original point. The reporter interviewed Nancy Adams of the Monroe County Medical Society and a couple other key individuals. What I don't understand is why on earth they would expect Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield to be supportive of the bill or any kind of legislation that regulates health insurance companies.

Jim Redmond of BCBS expressed concern that "proposed health care exchanges would create a situation where government is both broker and regulator. It's a conflict of interest." he said.

This I find hilarious. Health Insurance companies like Excellus who's CEO's make outrageous amounts of money. Do some research and look into what the top management employees at Excellus earn. I wrote about this very issue last November. My premiums go up and the top managements salaries continue to increase to absurd amounts of money.

No wonder Excellus BC BS are nervous about health care reform.

Now that the jury has reached the verdict of "Not Guilty" what have we learned from this unfortunate incident? Have the parents in the Town of Greece learned anything valuable from this?

When I speak of parents, I am referring to the parents of the wayward teenagers right here in the Town of Greece, the ones bordering on juvenile delinquency. Have these parents come to the realization that it is not OKAY for their 17 year old to be breaking into cars at 3:00 AM while high and legally intoxicated? This is not typical behavior of teenagers nor is it acceptable in any manner. So all you people whining and complaining about how Chris Cervini was just your average typical teenager displaying typical teen behavior is pure hogwash.

The death of a 17 year old is certainly a tragedy. Parents please learn from this and learn what your teenager is up to and who they are hanging out with. I have said it before and I will continue to say it, stop trying to be their friend and step up to the plate and do the real hard job of being a parent. We do not need another tragedy like this.

Governor Patterson Backing Down!

Looks like Governor Patterson heard from way too many angry drivers who were mad about his plan to institute new license plates. He is now backing down and we won't have to buy those ugly new blue and yellow ones. Aren't those similar to the old ones we had in the 1980's?

I'm not a big fan of our democratic governor, but you have to give him credit for trying to clean up the fiscal mess in Albany.

Roderick Scott Case

Alright, I have to voice my opinion on the Roderick Scott Case.

I am so tired of Christopher Cervini's family telling the media and the public what a wonderful boy he was. If he was such a good kid, why was he out at 3:00 AM, breaking into cars and doing drugs?

Yes, this incident should NOT have happened. But perhaps the Cervini Family needs to take responsibility for not properly parenting their out-of-control teenager. I see this all the time in my neighborhood. Parents wanting to be a friend instead of the parent. Parents not knowing where their teenager is late at night. Parents refusing to see what is really there in front of their very own eyes when it comes to their very own children.

A 17 year old boy has NO business being out at 3:00 AM. Perhaps the Greece Police Department should have filed charges against the parents of Christopher Cervini for endangering the welfare of their own child? When they start doing this, then parents in the Town of Greece will start to wake up and start really being parents and stop thinking only bad stuff happens to the kids in the City of Rochester.

Yes, the Town did NOT enforce the codes, but we as Greece citizens need to speak up and call the Town whenever we suspect or see something that looks like it may be in violation of a town code. You can't just look the other way and expect someone else to call. Just like if you see a crime. If you see something call (585) 225-2000 and report it. Don't ignore it. We all need to be proactive instead of reactive. Put those people at Town Hall to work. Remember they work for us, not the other way around.

Or will this area continue to be neglected like it has been for the past 11 1/2 years that your idol, John Auberger has been in office? Auberger's Administration has turned their head on the oldest part of Greece by neglecting such properties as Northgate Plaza and refusing to enforce town codes. Gary Pignato is in the News Again!

Looks like former Greece Police Officer Gary Pignato's name will be splashed across the headlines again. He is scheduled to go to trial on November 30th. Pignato is charged with official misconduct, coercion, bribery and criminal trespass in this his second trial.

But for all you idiots who voted for John Auberger you have basically said that a community center and plowed roads are more important than having morals. Closed, clubby and corrupt government is what some of you wanted in the Town of Greece. So now we will have more of it starting on November 30th when Gary Pignato heads back to court. Why would you hire a police officer who was fired from another town to be on your force? Why would you hire a police officer who hired a transvestite to perform oral sex on someone at a bachelor party? WHY? WHY? WHY? Everyone wants to comment but they avoid the real question which is WHY? What kind of morals are those?

Hope the people who voted for Auberger are saving their money to pay for the increase in taxes which is likely to occur since our town is self-insured. Do you people who voted for Auberger have any clue to what that means? Where will the money come from to pay for all these lawsuits???? If your going to comment if you expect your comment to be posted than you need to answer that question. WHERE WILL THE MONEY COME FROM????? Come on all you radical republicans tell us where the money is going to come from?

What's Up With the New Mammography Screening Guidelines?

A government task force has concluded that most women don't need mammograms in their 40's and should get one every two years starting at 50. This is in direct contrast to what the American Cancer Society has been promoting. The panel also said breast self-exams do no good, and women shouldn't be taught to do them. The American Cancer Society has been recommending annual mammograms beginning at age 40 for close to twenty years.

But now a government panel of doctors and scientists, is telling us that such early and frequent screenings often lead to false alarms and unneeded biopsies, without substantially improving women's odds of survival.

The panel officially known as the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, whose title says it all...has been formed to examine cost cutting measures. At what cost? How many woman will die now because of this? I personally know two woman who were in their early 40's whose breast cancer was diagnosed via a mammogram. These are woman who had no family history of the disease either.

Will insurance companies now follow suite and not cover mammography screening for women in their 40's? How many lives will be lost due to cost saving measures???? How about those Republican members of congress and senate members who voted against health care reform? They sit there and refuse to come up with any alternative. Typical Republican behavior...okay with the status quo as long as their health care stays the same and their family members are not affected. Suddenly these Republicans are worried about the costs. Note to Parents: The NEW Dog Park is for DOGS not KIDS!!!!

Our new dog park has been open less than three weeks and already we have people NOT following the rules. This is a special note to parents who can't seem to read or comprehend the posted rules that hang outside of the Dog Park. There is a huge sign that you can't miss. Children under the age of 10 are NOT permitted in the dog park. It is a Dog Park not a Kid Park. Last week I observed a mother with five children, all under the age of ten, running around the dog park like rabid animals which in turn gets the dogs all excited and riled up. She allowed her children to climb all over the logs which are clearly there for the obvious reasons, they teased and tormented dogs and they ran the fountain water wastefully while she did absolutely nothing to correct them. Let me add, that she was asked to abide by the rules on several different occasions by two other dog owners as well as myself. On one of these occasions she was too busy texting to watch any of her children or dog. You are supposed to keep an on your dog at all times while in the dog park. Another one of the rules she failed to obey.

Again the rule states: "No children under ten (10) years of age are allowed inside the off-leash area".

Take note dear mother that we, the responsible dog owners, have been advised by Monroe County Parks and Recreation that should we see anyone violating that rule we are to call 911 immediately. You have been forewarned. We will NOT hesitate to call 911 as you are placing your child in jeopardy. We the dog owners, as the clearly more responsible people should not have to suffer the consequences for your ignorance and plain stupidity. There is plenty of green grass that exists in the park for your children to use. My nephews and nieces follow the rules when they accompany me to the dog park. If you as a parent can't follow the established rules, you have no business owning a dog. In case you didn't realize it, the rule exists to keep your children safe. Again, it is a DOG PARK not a kid park. What a shining example this mother is setting for her children. Ignoring the rules. Read the rules here:

Remembering Kimberly Feketi-One Year Later

A year ago, tragedy occured in my neighborhood. Kimberly Feketi was murdered. Her ex-boyfriend recently pleaded guilty and is serving a 20 year sentence. I did not know Kimberly personally, but I have friends who live on Florence Avenue who did know her well. We are a close knit community. She left behind two beautiful daughters who will be raised without a parent. This community will not forget this tragedy and we remind people last month marked Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Let's bring the statistics of Domestic Violence up front. According to the Family Violence Prevention Fund, on average, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends in this country every day. In 2000, 1,247 women were killed by an intimate partner. The same year, 440 men were killed by an intimate partner. Women are much more likely than men to be killed by an intimate partner. In 2000, intimate partner homicides accounted for 33.5 percent of the murders of women and less than four percent of the murders of men. Pregnant and recently pregnant women are more likely to be victims of homicide than to die of any other cause, and evidence exists that a significant proportion of all female homicide victims are killed by their intimate partners. Research suggests that injury related deaths, including homicide and suicide, account for approximately one-third of all maternal mortality cases, while medical reasons make up the rest. But, homicide is the leading cause of death overall for pregnant women, followed by cancer, acute and chronic respiratory conditions, motor vehicle collisions and drug overdose, peripartum and postpartum cardiomyopthy, and suicide. This community will always remember Kimberly Feketi for the loving person that she was.

A Party Divided?

There was an interesting quote in today's paper provided by former 2nd Ward Council Candidate Joe Moscato: "It all comes down to who got out the vote, and we didn't get out the vote. This was the best opportunity we've had in over 100 years to win here, and we blew it on message and on getting the base out to vote."

Perhaps there may be some truth to what Joe Moscato says. But let's also not forget the political signs that were suddenly appearing with Dan Maloney's name mysteriously cut off. Let's not forget the power of showing one message and a united front. When I spotted those very signs, it told me quite a bit about politics in the Town of Greece. It's an unfortunate lesson to have learned with regard to personal interests in the game of politics in a town full of republicans who feel that closed, clubby and corrupt is okay as long as streets are plowed and the Community Center is alive and well.

The Greece Democratic Party as a whole has nothing to be ashamed of. They need to look towards the future, evaluate this year's election but move on. They need not waste energy playing the blame game that the Auberger administration is famous for. The individuals who were not team players and only concerned with their own self interests are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves.

A Town Divided

Dan Maloney is to be applauded for all the hard work he put into this campaign. For the first time in a very long time, we had a choice. He and his fellow Democrats are to be commended for this. They all gave up plenty of family and personal time because they were concerned about politics in the Town of Greece. They gave up weekend after weekend because they care. They took action because in their hearts they wanted better for the Town of Greece. They were tired of closed, clubby and corrupt.

Take note Mr. Auberger we are watching you and your fellow Town Board members. You may have won, but it was by the skin of your teeth. Keep in mind that there are still fifty percent of the people of the Town of Greece who did NOT vote for you. That is a huge number Mr. Auberger. We are a Town divided. So matter how you fluff up your win, remember the other fifty percent who will continue to hold you accountable for your actions.

The same message applies to the rubber stamp policies of Andrew Conlon. I will be watching very closely to see if you live up to all of your campaign promises. I am willing to have hope for the 3rd Ward, but that hope has dimmed quite a bit.

So for all those people who did NOT vote on Tuesday, do not dare even open your mouth to complain or whine about what happens in the Town of Greece.

Closed, Clubby and Corrupt Government is OKAY

For those who did not vote yestarday, don't complain or whine when the corruption in the Town of Greece continues for another four years. Don't complain when the lawsuits continue to pile up. Keep in mind, we are self-insured.

Perhaps John Auberger will realize that his win is most definitely not a landslide victory as there are still half of the population in the Town of Greece who did NOT vote for him. Will his closed door policies change? Will the Town Board ever stand up for the Town of Greece residents or will it be another four years of rubber stamp policies?

People who voted for John Auberger yestarday basically said that CLOSED, CLUBBY and CORRUPT government is acceptable because their roads are plowed during the winter months and we have a community center. If that is not insanity, I don't know what is.

No wonder people are moving out of the Town of Greece and New York State as a whole.

The Town of Greece deserves more than all the excuses John Auberger provides. The only way to restore respectability to the Town of Greece is by voting John Auberger out. It is time for him to go. How many more scandals must our Town suffer under Auberger's watch? How many other people will he blame for his continued failure as a Town Supervisor and his total incompetence and oversight? How many lawsuits will the tax payers be paying for? He has refused to take responsibility for any of his actions. That makes him unqualified to be a leader of any sort. John Auberger "Too Busy" To Debate Dan Maloney

Last week Bob Lonsberry agreed to arrange a debate between John Auberger and Dan Maloney. The debate was to have taken place this morning live at 11:00 AM. Guess who was a no show? What a surprise. Mr. Auberger claims he is too busy to debate live in the studio and couldn't do it on the telephone either.

This speaks volumes! He has been asked numerous occasions to debate Dan Maloney and he has made all kinds of excuses for why he won't. Just like he has made all kinds of excuses as to what transpired on his watch.

NO MORE EXCUSES!!!

Kathleen Trimmer for Receiver of Taxes

On Tuesday I will be voting for Kathleen Trimmer for Receiver of Taxes. I have met her on numerous occasions and have asked her dozens and dozens of questions. I've done my research and she is the more qualified candidate.

Just because our current Receiver of Taxes, Ms. Taylor has been in office for 24 years doe NOT necessarily make her the more qualified candidate.

Kathleen Trimmer brings a wealth of information to the table. The responsibilities of her current job entail developing, implementing and administering computer security policies, procedures and programs and for auditing to insure full compliance with government requirements and directives.

Perhaps had our current Receiver of Taxes along with her supervisor, paid closer attention to the situation in the Assessor's office we would not have had a problem. Audit being the key word here along with responsibility. Are you listening Mr. Auberger? Pay raises without written peformance reviews. What kind of policy is that????

Kathleen Trimmer is the right candidate for this position. She will bring new insights and a fresh approach to the Receiver's office. I might also add that since Ms. Trimmer has been campaigning and talking about revamping the Town of Greece website, suddenly Auberger and his administration have been attempting to do that. Too bad Ms. Trimmer did not copyright her ideas so that Auberger could not steal them.

Just as expected, John Auberger has pulled out his bag of tricks just in time for Halloween. If you read today's paper you will see an interview with none other than Independent Investigator, Joseph Loszynski. Election Day is a mere three days away so Auberger is trying to deflect all the damage that has already been done by allowing Mr. Loszynski to actually speak to the media. "Oh what a tangled web we weave Mr. Auberger when first we practice to deceive."

John Auberger told an audience on Wednesday night that the police investigation was actually complete. So why are we still paying Loszynski? Is he now the official spokesperson for the Greece Police Department? Did Auberger forget he told us that on Wednesday? Just like he forgot having a conversation with John Parrinello regarding Gary Pignato??

Auberger always playing the blame game and never accepting responsibility for his actions. What kind of leader does that?

I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world (except with members of other political parties.)

FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

John Auberger Caught in Another Lie!!

I had the opportunity to address John Auberger at last evening's Meet the Candidate Night sponsored by Northgate Neighbors. I wanted to know why he had not accepted Dan Maloney's invitation to a debate. Do you know what his reply was? He basically told the audience that that evening was the first time he had ever been asked to participate in a debate with Dan Maloney. Which means, Mr. Auberger lied. Last week Channel 1o asked him the very same question. It was also brought up at the First Bible Baptist Candidate Night last Sunday night. I guess Mr. Auberger had another problem with his selective memory illness. The very one where he denied talking to John Parrinello about hiring Gary Pignato.

Interesting information was also brought to light last night that there are court documents that attest to the fact that John Auberger knew all about Gary Pignato's background before hiring him. You can't lie in a court document. That is known as perjury Mr. Auberger.

Another audience member asked if he took responsibility for any of the scandals that have occurred during his term. He refused to.

At the conclusion of the evening when he was removed from the spotlight, Mr. Auberger high tailed it out of there and did not stick around to talk with the tax paying citizens of Greece. Yet another shining example of his OPEN GOVERNMENT.

Do we really want another four years of this?

Here is some interesting information courtesy of the Rochester Business Journal. Our very own Town Supervisor ranks number 5 in their list of Highest Paid Elected Officials. Maggie Brooks is number 4. Auberger is the highest paid Town Supervisor on the list. Interesting enough also on this list is Kathleen Taylor, Receiver of Taxes. She is number 13. Did you know she makes more money than Monroe County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo?

Wonder if Ms. Taylor got a raise after the Kodak Assessor scandal? Oh that's right, Auberger doesn't do employee reviews. He finds them cumbersome. What kind of HR Department does Auberger run over there at 1 Vince Tofany Boulevard?

Both Dan Maloney and John Auberger will be in attendance as well as a host of other candidates including Shannon O'Keefe and Shawn Lavin. In my previous post, I had stated Joe Moscato would be present. I was incorrect as Mr. Moscato does not live in the Northgate area. However, Mr. Moscato is always welcome to attend this public forum as an interested citizen.

We will have to see what tricks Mr. Auberger has up his sleeve as the witching hour approaches.

A certain other blogger who shall remain nameless is claiming that Dan Maloney does NOT have the experience to be Town Supervisor. This person has absolutely no clue to what Dan's current responsibilities are. I would also like to ask this person what qualifications did John Auberger have when he became supervisor all those centuries ago? What qualifications did President Obama have in order to be President?

This blogger obviously needs to do some research into what Dan Maloney's current job responsibilities are before they start shooting their mouth off claiming he has a steep learning curve. That is laughable at best. But this other blogger has yet to take a stand on any issue that involves the Town of Greece so I don't expect them to do it now.

Let's tell Auberger and the rest of the Republicans that their time is up. We want oversight, accountability, and respectability back in the Town of Greece. And if we keep John Auberger in office we will not get oversight, accountability and most definitely not respectability.

Let us not forget the dozens of lawsuits that have been filed against the Town of Greece, all under the watch of John Auberger. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Will the Dog Park Really Open on October 30th?

I was one of the dog owners who attended the Paws in the Park event this past weekend at Greece Canal Park. Guests of the event had the opportunity to try out the park before the official grand opening which is slated for October 30th.

My 19 month old german shepherd had the time of his life romping around with all the other dogs. It's a one acre fenced in area with a crushed limestone surface. I don't know why they went with crushed limestone because I am sure that isn't the best choice for the paws of large breed dogs like mine. The Wegman Dog Park in Syracuse as well as other dog parks are all grass surfaces. There are also no lights surrounding the park which seems kind of foolish since winter is approaching. The park was to have opened last February so I won't hold my breath with the so-called official grand opening on October 30th. The hours of the park leave alot to be desired, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM during the winter weekdays. Also, how are they going to enforce the rules and regulations? It's $ 24.00 per year per dog and pet owners need only show proof of rabies vaccination and license. What about all those other important vaccinations? I suppose irresponsible pet owners who don't have their dog vaccinated will not take the time to bring their pet to the dog park.

As for the angry Greece residents complaining that their tax dollars will be going to clean up the messes left by irresponsible pet owners. I have to pay school taxes and I don't have any kids in the school district, but I got over that. So these angry non-pet lovers will get over their issues. Besides all our tax money will be going to pay for all those lawsuits courtesy of John Auberger's incompetence as a Town Supervisor.

The D & C -What a Joke!

If you caught today's paper you will see that the Editorial Board refused to endorse any candidate in the Town Supervisor race. What a joke they are! They also couldn't endorse a candidate in the 2nd Ward, which is no surprise since the Editorial Board and Jim Lawrence despise Joe Moscato because he is so outspoken on issues concerning the Town of Greece. Their failure to endorse any candidate simply shows they have no concept of the issues at hand. Or perhaps their are too many Republicans serving on their Editorial Board. I find it quite amusing that the D & C can't take a stand on an issue like this. It goes to show why their readership continues to decline.

As for their other endorsements; I support Shannon O'Keefe in the 1st Ward. I believe she is knowledgeable and has the experience needed on Town Board. I also think she is independent in her thought process and without John Auberger around to influence her, she will vote for what is best for the Town of Greece.

Shawn Lavin is my choice in the 3rd Ward because he is a breath of fresh air. He is passionate and inspiring. Andy Conlon is a cookie cutter of what we already have, Jerry Helfer. Everyone knows how I feel about Jerry Helfer.

Clearly Joe Moscato is the only choice for the 2nd Ward. He knows what needs to be done to clean up the Auberger mess and he is not afraid to speak his mind. That is what I like about Joe. I admire his so-called brusqueness because I am so tired of the Auberger evasiveness.

Auberger: "There's a Difference between Accountability and Fault"

Anyone catch the article in today's D & C where John Auberger insists he has taken responsibility. His exact words were "There's a difference between accountability and fault. I am accountable and have taken responsibility for fixing this."

How is that taking responsibility Mr. Auberger? You continue to play the blame game which you are so good at. Another interesting item mentioned in the article was the fact that Mr. Auberger does not conduct annual written reviews of his department. You have got to be kidding me! These people get yearly pay increases without written performance reviews and evaluations! This is absurd. More wasting of tax payer dollars. Courtesy of the Town Board Republicans.

And according to the article, Mr. Loszynski's INDEPENDENT investigation is not going to be complete until the end of the year. That is three or four months later than Mr. Auberger had told us via the news media when he claimed it would be wrapping up Labor Day Weekend. So from now until January how much will that be costing tax payers?

Things have to change in the Town of Greece. And you as the voter can make this change happen. It's time to vote Auberger and the Republicans who have created this mess out. Haven't we had enough of this insanity? How much more of the tax payer money is Auberger and his co-horts going to spend due to his incompetency? And with all these lawsuits, who do you think will be paying for them????????

Maggie Brooks Stands by Her Man John Auberger

Really what else can she do? She says he is a good leader. What is her definition of a good leader? She has no clue.

Besides taking responsibility for their actions, which Auberger refuses to do, a good leader needs to have people around them who don't always think alike. The Town Board simply accepts everything Auberger says and does. So he wins no points on that level. It's Auberger's way or the highway. This has been proven over and over. There is no room for discussion with him. We all know how he feels about engaging the public. The very people who pay for his salary. Guess desperate times call for desperate actions. And Auberger is definitely getting desperate if he has to stoop to this level. Come on John, what's the deal? You can't take the competition? So you have to play dirty?

Auberger's Latest Trick

It's close to Halloween and I just knew John Auberger would have some sort of trick up his sleeve with regard to the Merritt Rahn Public Hearing. He just bought off Merritt Rahn to the tune of $ 10,000 just so there would be no public hearing. Auberger didn't want Rahn to spill the beans. All in the hopes of winning re-election. Let' s hope the people in the Town of Greece are not as stupid as Mr. Auberger would lead us to believe. Since when is Auberger and the Town Board so concerned with the cost of a public hearing when he has already spent close to $400,000 of tax payer money for his s0-called INDEPENDENT investigation, which is not at all INDEPENDENT in any regard. Keep in mind that that $400,000 is money taken from not filling vacant police positions therefore not protecting the citizens of Greece. John Auberger takes tax payers money and does whatever he wants with it. He can continue to disillusion the naive citizens of Greece by continuing to pretend he knew nothing of the scandals or you can wise up and see through his charade because if he really knew nothing, that is GROSS INCOMPETENCE on every level. A chief has to know where all his Indians are and what they are doing.

It's time for the Town of Greece to start fresh and clean. That is the only way we will be able to reestablish our reputation. We can't do that unless Auberger is gone. But we still have several more days until the official Halloween holiday and I am sure Auberger has more scary tricks up his sleeve. BOO!

Why Won't John Auberger Debate Dan Maloney?

Tell us Mr. Auberger why you refuse to debate your opponent Dan Maloney in a community style town meeting? What are you afraid of? You won't have your fellow Town Board Republicans standing by your side to coax you on? What is it that you are afraid of? The questions that intelligent Greece residents might ask you? 1. When will the INDEPENDENT police investigation actually be over? What is the final tab?

2. How many lawsuits have been filed against the Town of Greece since you have been in office?

3. Why are our property taxes so high?

4. Why do you insist on sending out political campaign literature that does NOT address the issues at hand?

5. How could you call yourself a competent, qualified Town Supervisor when our Town has been involved in so many scandals?

What questions would you want to see Mr. Auberger answer if given the chance to debate Dan Maloney?

That's right. You read the figure correctly. $ 382,450 is what John Auberger's INDEPENDENT investigation has cost the Town of Greece Tax Payers to-date according to WHEC TV Channel 10.

Why is no one who attends these community meetings and various Meet the Candidate Night's not questioning Mr. Auberger about this? The cost of this investigation is being funded by us the tax payers. When is it going to be complete Mr. Auberger? When the dollar figure hits $ 500,00?

If you are concerned about the state of the Town of Greece. ask Mr. Auberger how he could not have known what was going on in the tax assessor's office? and the Police Department? Is he not the Town Supervisor? Should'nt the Town Supervisor be more competent and aware of the various activites within his office?

I know I want a more competent Town Supervisor. And a more effective leader.

32 Days and Counting Mr. Auberger!!

That's right there are only 32 days until election day. We are now into October and still no word from John Auberger and Loszynksi with regard to the police investigation. Another day. Another dollar. An investigation being funded by Greece tax payers. We also still have no word on the Merritt Rahn Hearing. Will it be open to the public or will Auberger hold it during business hours so many of the working Greece residents can't attend? Oh he has some trick up his sleeve now that the clock is ticking.

So all you Auberger supporters write to me and tell me why you are voting for him. Why does he deserve to be re-elected? I really want to hear your reasons. And let's not hope it's because of the Community Center or that teen curfew that doesn't exist. Don't you want to know how much his so called INDEPENDENT investigation is costing you? It is your hard earned money that is funding it.

As you already know I won't be voting for him. Why you ask? Because I want a leader who takes responsibility for his actions. Mr. Auberger wants to pretend he didn't know what was going on in the Assessor's Office and in the Police Department. That makes him either a non-truth telling person or totally incompetent to be Town Supervisor. So why would any intelligent person vote for him?

32 Days until Republican rule ends in the Town of Greece. Dan Maloney has a tough job cleaning up the mess left behind, but he is more than qualified. He can lead our town in a new direction and repair the damage that has been done.

John Auberger & The Greece Town Board

Here are some interesting facts brought to you from our future Town Supervisor, Dan Maloney:

Greece's overall surplus for 2008 was 46.2% of its overall operating expenses-- 3 times the State Comptroller's recommended amount.

In the last 4 years the total tax levy for the Town of Greece, money taken out of your pocket, has increased 21.6%--twice the rate of inflation.

During the past 4 years, town expenditures have increased 20.6%-twice the rate of inflation.

There are just a few of the reasons why on November 3rd the Citizens of Greece need to take back their town and vote for the true leader, Dan Maloney.

Let's ask John Auberger how much of our tax payer dollars have gone to pay for lawsuits since he has been in office???? Assessed values of homes are also going up. Could that be because Auberger has plans to raise taxes??

1st Ward Council Person Shannon O'Keefe Answers my Questions

Yes, believe it or not. I had the opportunity to ask present 1st Ward Council Person Shannon O'Keefe some questions and she was nice enough to provide me with answers.

1. What geographical area defines the 1st Ward?

The 1st Ward is the most northern part of the Town (along the lake) and then dips down on the West side to include Northgate.

2. Do you see any specific challenges in the 1st Ward that are not prevalent in other parts of Greece?

The 1st Ward is unique in that it covers the lakefront, so there are many issues, such as lake level, seasonal traffic and boat access that other parts of the Town do not face.

3. What would you do or continue to do as Council Person to address these challenges?

In my time as 1st Ward Council Person, I have had an open door and engaged in much communication with my residents, often assisting them with getting to the right people at Town Hall. I would continue to do that, and look forward to continuing to work with the many neighborhood groups in the 1st Ward.

4. What would you do to address the challenges that are currently affecting the entire Town?

As a Town, we need to keep an eye on the budget and do what we can in these tough economic times to stay below the rate of inflation while still giving residents all the services they are used to. And again, it is important to me to listen to residents and address any concerns they may have.

5. What are your professional qualifications for this office?

I am an attorney, as well as a Past Assistant District Attorney and Town Prosecutor for Greece. I also have a bachelor's degree in Political Science.

6. What will you do differently than the Democratic Candidate?

I am not familiar with what my opponent has promised to do, so I am unable to answer this question.

7. Why should residents in the 1st Ward vote for you?

Residents should vote for me because I am dedicated to being an advocate for them and doing what I can to address any issues or concerns they may have.

8. What will happen come November if we get a mix of political parties elected to Town Government?

I believe people should vote for the candidate that they believe would do the best job in the office, regardless of the candidate's political affiliation.

9. As a Council Person, tell us why you feel John Auberger should be re-elected?

John Auberger has worked very hard for the Town of Greece, and been a tireless steward of its budget.

10. As a Council Person, can you tell us how many lawsuits have been filed since Mr. Auberger has been in office? How many have been settled? How much have these lawsuits cost taxpayers in the Town of Greece?

I do not have information on the number of lawsuits since John Auberger has been Supervisor.

11. Is it now past Labor Day, the day that Mr. Auberger told us the police investigation would be over. How much has this cost us? And when will it end?

I know that the investigators are working hard to wrap up the investigation. However, they want to be sure to thoroughly investigate any potential problems. I am hopeful the investigation will be completed shortly.

12. Can you give us an update on the Walmart project?

Final design plans have been submitted to the Town and they are in the process of being reviewed.

According to the Democrat and Chronicle yestarday, " in neighorhoods along Long Pond Road, John Auberger was greeted warmly. Residents shook his hand and said they were behind him all the way. None asked about the police."

Now I have to ask, how can you not ask about the police department, or the town assessors scandal, or what about that so-called teen curfew? Do these people have their heads buried in the sand? Do they not know what is going on?

There is more to Greece than a Community Center that Auberger built. If Mr. Auberger wants us to believe he knew nothing of any of these scandals, that would indeed make him an INEFFECTIVE leader. Even more reason for not re-electing him in November.

Some of the crucial requirements of an effective leader include trustworthiness. If a leader is to lead others this needs to be number one on the list. Honesty and integrity are key issues here. How about someone who is passionate and enthusiastic? Has anyone seen this quality in Auberger lately? Maybe 12 years ago but not today. A good leader needs to listen to others and be open for discussion, ideas and proposals. Not just open to members of his own party, Mr. Auberger. And finally, a leader needs to know what is going on. Apparently, Auberger failed in that department. Or so he wants us to believe.

Dan Maloney is the leader than can lead the Town of Greece into the future.

A Note from Karen Lee Byfield, Candidate for 1st Ward Council

While I have been walking door to door to meet my neighbors of the first ward it had been mentioned to me by a few residents living in the Adeline Park neighborhood that there have been growing numbers of incidents of drug sales and use in or near the park. One resident stated to me that he has filed complaints with the Greece Police department on more than one occasion regarding the sale of drugs at a home adjacent to his. While I am sure that these problems are not just happening in this one area, listening to the residents, this problem does seem to be more prevalent in this part of town than in others.

I would hope that I would be able to address any challenges that should occur within the 1st ward directly with the town supervisor. The role of the town board as stated on its website is to provide policy direction and leadership to the Town organization by serving as a liaison to Town community groups, neighborhood groups and citizens.

I believe the way to address the challenges facing the entire town would start by electing a board that would operate under the guidelines of transparency and open government. We should not allow decisions that affect the entire community to be made and dictated by a few. The town board members are elected, in most cases, to represent and serve as a liaison for the all the residents in the town.

The town board meeting agenda should be posted on the town website in advance of the meetings (something that our slate plans to initiate) to allow the residents the opportunity to know what issues will be discussed, which could result in higher turnout and input from residents.

Two key areas of responsibility for council person are visibility and accessibility. I would increase my visibility and accessibility by regularly attending neighborhood group meetings and community events and by posting my contact information on the Town website. My contact information is currently on my palm cards that I have given out to residents while walking door-to-door. I have been contacted by residents that have concerns and questions they wished to have addressed and I have attempted to assist them, to the best of my ability, as a concerned citizen not as legal expert. I want residents to feel they are welcome to come to the town board and address any challenges and concerns that they wish to and know that they will be heard.
I believe being accessible to the residents that elect me as their liaison will help to bring open government to the town board

I really cannot address what I would do “differently” than the current 1st ward council person because I am not fully aware of what she does. I can only speak for myself as to what I would like to do to make the Town board more accessible to the residents of our town. I have addressed this in the previous paragraph.

I would like the residents of the 1st ward to vote for me because I want them to know that I am a concerned resident, wife and mother that believe by working together we can make our town better. I am not a “Yes” person. I will not rubber-stamp or vote to pass any issue that is not in the best interest of the residents. I would like to serve as a role model not just for my own children and grandchildren, but for all young women and men, especially young women of color.

My professional qualifications are:
Associates degree in Business Management
Certificates in conflict resolution and counseling.
Experience as a Union Benefits Representative for the UAW.
Shop steward/grievance handler for the UAW.
I have also completed course work toward my B. S. Degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Communication.
I am a volunteer with the Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross.
I serve as the Vice president of Aenon Missionary Baptist Church Nurses ministry.
I volunteer as a teacher for Vacation Bible School.
I facilitate/organization the church’s youth movie nights.

If, when, I am elected to the Town board in November, I will do as I have always done when faced with a new opportunity. I will give 100% of myself. I will work with a positive attitude and an open mind while keeping true to my strong faith in God. I will not compromise my faith in God or the good faith of neighbors under any circumstances.

Foremost, I will keep in mind that I was elected by my fellow residents because they believe that I will serve as their liaison and I will work to make decisions with their best interests in mind.

Today is the Annual Greece Police Department's Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Training Seminar & Picnic. So I will be "vogueing" at Town Hall today. We have a surprise guest speaker and I can only imagine who that might be. I can't wait to see John Auberger's face when I shake his hand while wearing my Dan Maloney button. Yes, I like to stir things up a bit, and not just my coffee. If the other night's Town Board Meeting is any indicator of what the intelligent people of Greece are thinking about the Auberger administration, the winds of change are coming. There were only four people (including myself) who were present at this meeting. The entire meeting was over in ten minutes. These are the only meetings where I get to see my councilman, Jerry Helfer. But I can read his brief articles in the Town newsletters, which have nothing to do with the neighborhood he represents. The Lawsuits Are Piling Up

The closer we get to election day, it seems the lawsuits being filed against the Town of Greece are piling up. In the last two weeks, four have been filed against the Town and the Police Department (Pignato, two from the Sharpe Family and the latest, "Belasco" case). As usual the other blogger is taking the side of Mr. Belasco, when he has no clue to the facts of the case. Let's point out the fact that Mr. Belasco was charged with second-degree harassment and was carrying a concealed weapon. The other blogger wants to pretend he gets his information from reputable sources, when he gets most of his stories via our local newspaper and other media outlets. But this blog isn't about him. It's about what John Auberger continues to do to our town. Does anyone have any idea how many lawsuits have been brought against the town since John Auberger has been Town Supervisor? How much taxpayer monies have been paid out on those claims?

As for the Belasco case, I don't think I would be too nice to someone who called me corrupt and was hiding a concealed weapon. Anyone who doesn't respect a Law Enforcement Officer, doesn't deserve respect themselves. For all of you out there who have no clue what is is like to be a police officer in our Town, I highly recommend doing a ride along so you can witness first-hand what our officers put up with on a daily basis. Day in and day out they put their lives on the line to protect us. They deserve our respect and support. If we judge anyone, it should be John Auberger.

The Northgate Plaza Saga Continues

The Town of Greece and Widewaters Management group were invited to speak at this month's Northgate Neighbors Community Meeting. Oddly, the Town declined the invitation. They weren't too keen about speaking to us about Northgate for fear the meeting would turn into an anti-town, anti Walmart evening.

Just another example of closed door politics taking place at Auberger Headquarters at 1 Vince Tofany Boulevard.

How much longer will we have to wait? How much more deterioration will we have to look at? How many more rats will fester in the former Mc Curdy's basement? As many as we have at Town Hall, perhaps.

Getting to Know Joe Moscato, 2nd Ward Council Candidate

As I continue to highlight candidates who are best suited to clean up the Auberger mess in our totally disgraced town, today I am featuring Joe Moscato.

1. How long have you lived in Greece?

I have been a proud resident of Greece for over 50 years. For 34 of those years, I have lived in the 2nd Ward. During those years, I spent 23 years as a member of the Greece Police Department. My involvement in the community and professional groups are too numerous for this space and are spelled out in detail on my website at www.Moscato2009.com.

2. What do you see are some of the problems in the Town right now?

The police scandal must, of course, be (1) on the list; (2) crime has been on the increase town-wide for a number of years, especially in the 2nd and 3rd wards; (3) urban sprawl. There are not enough controls in place to keep parts of Greece green; (4) empty and abandoned property and lax enforcement of property management ordinances; (5) both Town and County taxes are too high. Assesssed property taxes are out of line with the reality of today's economy and falling prices on exisitng homes, and (6) not enough affordable senior housing.

3. Do you see any special challenges with the 2nd Ward?

Yes, (1) removal of abandoned property and filling empty commercial buildings; (2) crime in the form of property damage, vandalism, vehicle break-in's, larcenies and burgalaries; (3) drainage problems in some of the oldest sections of the Ward; (4) the crumbling infrastructure of some of the roads in our subdivisions, especially in that part of the Ward with boundaries within the Maiden Lane-Fetzner Road-Ridge Road and Long Pond corridor. (5) Elect as a Ward representaive a person who cares and has a record of getting things done. That person would be me.

4. What will you do to address these changes?

My 23 years as a police officer in Greece will be a valuable asset in the task of rebuilding our Police Department. I will insist on the presence of more police patrols in residential areas to cut down on criminal activity, especially at night. I will actually seek input from Ward residents with concerns about drainage issues and get them remedied. I will assist in developing a Town-wide Capital Improvement plan to fix and maintain roads and sidewalks in disrepair.

5. What will you do differently than Republican Bob Bilsky?

This can be summed up in four words, Listen, Learn, and Take Action. I have never met Bob Bilsky, but based on comments I have heard from Ward residents, he is inaccessible and never returns phone calls from constituents. In the 8 years he has represented this Ward, he has done nothing. As a voting Board Member, his voting record on issues is sad. He simply votes the way John Auberger requests and never questions or comments on Ward issues. When elected, as my record on the School Board proves, I will be an advocate for my constituents' concerns and will hold bi-monthly town hall meetings with residents to listen to their concerns and address them. If given an opportunity to represent this Ward, I will get things done.

6. Why should people in the 2nd Ward vote for you?

My personal motto during my entire professional and private life is "Make a Difference". In the past, as my biography will indicate, I have an outstanding record in making a positive difference in anything I chose to get involved with. As the representative for the 2nd Ward, I intend to do the same thing, "Make a Difference". I did it as a member of the School Board for three years and I can do it again as your representative on the Town Board. Every town has two things in common; one is that it has a distinct image that separates it from neighboring towns. The residents of each town have a different set of priorities important to them that distinguishes them from neighboring towns. As a 50 year resident of Greece, my involvement in this community gives me a unique perspective of the identity of Greece as well as knowledge of the pulse of its inhabitants and their priorities. This fact, in itself, will allow me to understand not only the needs of the 2nd Ward, but the Town as a whole. Because of this knowledge, I will be the ideal advocate for my Ward and the image of Greece.

7. What do you see are the challenges of our Town Board should we get a mix of parties in the November election?

As long as I have lived in Greece, the Republican Party has always maintained the majority on the Town Board. The Democrats have never had more than two of the five seats constituting the minority. The last Democrat to hold the Supervisor job was in 1896. As residents, we know the consequences of a 5-0 Board. Such an arrangement is unacceptable in a true democracy. If the Democrats can gain two seats this year, what impact would that have? First, it will stimulate debate. Under the rules, if one makes a motion and receives a second from another, the motion must be discussed and voted on. It will give the minority the opportunity to convince members of the majority to vote in the affirmative with them, thereby passing the motion. However, with a 4-1 split, the minority member may make a motion but absent a second, it dies, but in both of the above scenarios the result would be greater oversight and accountability by the majority. It's that simple. However, if Greece is to dig itself out of ths mess created by Mr. Auberger and Mr. Bilsky, we must change the balance of power by electing a new Supervisor and at least two board members. Anything less will result in business as usual and the image and identity of Greece will continue to suffer.

In closing, no one on either slate of candidates has a better working knowledge of the operation of Greece. As your representative, I would use this knowledge in your best interests.

Here it is Almost Labor Day...

Well Mr. Auberger here we are a few days before Labor Day--the very day you told us the police investigation would be wrapping up. I believe it was Mr. Loszynski who also stated this on local media. So what's the deal Auberger? When will we have the real answers and get the real truth about who leads the pack at the Police Department? How fair and honest will this report be? What will be missing from this report? Tell us Mr. Auberger we are waiting to hear. What role did you yourself play in this entire scandal? Step up to the plate and take responsibility for your actions like an effective leader.

You continue to expect the Citizens of Greece to believe you when you say you knew nothing of any of these scandals. Well, Mr. Auberger if that is the truth, then you really have no business being our Town Supervisor. Intelligent citizens in the Town of Greece are onto you John Auberger.

Does Greece Need A Broadway Theater?

Channel 8 is reporting that Greece was one of ten communities that submitted a proposal to the Rochester Broadway Theatre League to build the former Renaissance Center-type theater right here in Greece. Where they did not say. Who will pay for this? That was not part of the proposal. But I suppose Auberger can use the funds from Public Safety since we have many available openings. Oh wait, that money is being used to pay for his PRIVATE investigation into the Police Department. Where will Auberger get the money to pay for this theater? Do we really want it? Do we really need it? How much is it going to cost the Greece Taxpayers? Of course the citizens have no say in the Auberger administration. So much for open government.

Getting to Know Shawn Lavin: Future 3rd Ward Council Person

As I continue to highlight the candidates best suited to clean up John Auberger's mess, I am now featuring Shawn Lavin, who is running for 3rd Ward Council Person, the seat presently being held by the invisible man, Jerry Helfer. The very one who doesn't feel the need to return phone calls or e-mails to the constituents who elected him.

1. What challenges do you see in the 3rd Ward?

I see several challenges that need immediate attention. First challenge would be crime, as I walk door-to-door, residents are very concerned about the increase in crime in the 3rd Ward. This is something that I empathize with being a victim only a few months ago. Our next challenge would be luring businesses back to this area. So often we see new buildings going up in the northern and central parts of Greece, while perfectly empty buildings sit vacant in the 3rd Ward. The two challenges above will be my first priority. I also have some general ideas for the Town of Greece in general. But the two specific to the 3rd Ward are the most important.

2. What will you do to address these challenges?

To combat crime and keep residents of the 3rd Ward safe, I feel we need to get a stronger police presence within the neighborhoods. I feel that we are neglected being one of the oldest neighborhoods in Greece, and that an additional presence would help alleviate some anxiety felt by residents.

Also as residents, we need to become more proactive in where we live and who is in our neighborhood. I think we should seek out a few of the troubled areas within the 3rd Ward and begin holding monthly neighborhood watch groups. These meetings would include not only the people in the neighborhood, but also Greece Police Officers and myself. Inviting the local police would help assuage some of the negative stigma's that are surrounding the Greece Police Department and start building stronger relationships with the residents.

The next challenge begins shortly after we get momentum on accomplishing the first one. In order to get businesses back we need to offer some sort of tax incentive for them to occupy pre-existing buildings. Entrepreneurs will consider setting up a business if we can plainly show them the benefits of moving into our neighborhood. Also, I feel that is is the duty of elected officials to work with the Better Business Bureau, the Center for Governmental Research and the Visit Rochester group, to proactively seek out businesses looking to expand or to move to the Greece area.

3. What will I do differently from our current council person?

I think the leaders and members of this Town government have been absent in meeting and working with constituents they represent. Once elected I plan on having a standard monthly meeting at the Barnard Library where residents can come and discuss issues they are having or ideas they feel will make the town a better place to live. Also, I think that we must embrace the technology in front of us, with that said, I want to set up a quarterly newsletter that I e-mail to all residents who wish to receive it. The newsletter will contain information specific to the 3rd Ward, but also legislation that has come before the Town Board.

4. What will happen if we mix political parties on the Town Board?

When elected this fall your question is certainly something that I have given much thought to and I also know that some of the initiatives and ideas that I have won't always fall into the same ideology as other elected officials. However, individuals who are elected to Town Office, I would hope would have a general interest in seeing their neighborhoods and Town proper. I can't imagine a Republican official voting against an initiative that I put forward to bring businesses back to my district, or that helps lower crime in a particular neighborhood. Just as I would not vote against an elected Republican who proposed legislation that clearly benfited the town. Your question certainly brings up a challenging issue that I will be faced with. But as long as both parties keep an open mind and look to resolve problems rather than place blame, it will be a challenge I can work through. Overall the idea of checks and balances is not something to be apprehensive about, but rather something to value in democracy.

5. What is my stance on Walmart?

My biggest concern with the Walmart situation is that members of my community were not told or made aware of the Walmart legislation until it was already voted on. This kind of back-door politics I find to be the most troubling from the Walmart situation. As to the best of my knowledge and the decision by the NYS Courts, Walmart entering Northgate Plaza is only a matter of time. What we have to do as residents is look at the benefits it will give our town. What I have to do as an elected official is to monitor how Walmart is effecting the residents I am representing.

Stupid Is As Stupid Does

The other evening while shopping at a local business establishment I ran into a neighbor who said he had seen me on television. We both share the same concerns about our neighborhood and in the midst of our conversation, another woman who he knew interrupted our conversation. When he introduced us he told her I had appeared on television and mentioned my views on the state of Greece. She of course did not agree with my views. She was clearly a John Auberger supporter left in the dark. She seemed to believe he knew absolutely nothing about any of the scandals. She was adamant that he had done a superb job as Town Supervisor. She told me she would never vote for Dan Maloney. When I engaged her or tried to bring to light current issues, she couldn't even name one thing that Auberger had accomplished for our town. How is that for knowng your Town Supervisor? She obviously didn't hear about the teen curfew he told Channel 9 that he implemented. Has anyone heard about that teen curfew? I know there is a teen escort policy in effect at the mall, but that would hardly be considered a teen curfew. When I highlighted the fact that the Town of Greece had pretty much neglected the entire 3rd Ward for the past 11 1/2 years, want to know what her response was? "Oh it's the renters. Blame the renters!". Well, I have news for people like her, it's the town who is supposed to enforce the codes on those rental properties. Just like they should have enforced the codes at Northgate Plaza. That is why Northgate looks the way it looks. How much longer will it stay that way? Again, the town has neglected the oldest part of Greece. It's people like this particular woman who have blinders on and are satisfied with the status quo. The saying, stupid is as stupid does, couldn't be more suited to her and when people are that ignorant there is no sense even trying to talk sense into them. She also stated that you were safer living in the city than our neighborhood. Guess she also didn't know that Greece is considered one of the safest communities in the US, thanks to John Auberger, another item he bragged about on Channel 9. Seems like Mr. Auberger likes to take credit for all the positive things that occur in Greece, when something negative happens he wants to pretend he doesn't know about it. How convenient is that?

Enlightening the Citizens of Greece

I had the opportunity to ask Town Supervisor Candidate, Dan Maloney some questions. I share his answers with you now.

1. How long have you lived in Greece?

I grew up in the tenth ward in Rochester (Dewey and Driving Park neighborhood). I married Robin who lived on Westwood Drive in Greece, where her parents still live, in 1982. I was transferred between Boston, Syracuse, and Buffalo with General Motors between 1986-1995. We moved as a family each time (Robin and I and our four sons). Finally in the spring of 1995 I was offered a position back at my home plant here in Rochester, and accepted. We closed on our Stone Road home in January of 1996, nearly 14 years ago.

2. What made you decide to live in Greece?

We moved to Greece because we believed the Town had safe neighborhoods, good schools, and parks for our children. We like the neighborhood stores, restaurants, and close proximity to our families. Greece also had (and still has) great services like snow removal, fire, police, and emergency medical services.

3. What are some of the problems in Greece right now?

Closed door government under one party rule for far too long, has led to corruption and scandal. The resulting litigation and investigations are costing the good citizens of Greece dearly in squandered tax dollars and loss of reputation. The total lack of oversight and accountability of the current administration is galling.

4. What do you plan to do to fix these problems?

I will have a completely transparent, open government at all levels and in all departments. A new interactive user friendly website is a good first step. All public meetings will be posted well in advance and town residents will be encouraged to participate. Input, open discussion and two way dialogue between the citizens that "own" the town and elected officials will occur. No constituent services personnel ("I am he") will be allowed to screen calls and meetings. Citizen advisory board(s) and task force, if needed, using the Brighton town model, will work well to ensure citizen input. Town budgets, meeting schedules, organization charts listing departments, employees, and contact infomation will be available on-line. Hard copies of the same information and more will be available at the request of residents with no need to FOIL--residents do own the town government after all. I will be accountable and available.

5) What do you see for Greece's future?

I see two very different futures depending on who is elected in town government this November. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result--so if we elect the same people into town government, you know the result; more corruption and scandal.

If the new "clean slate" democratic candidates are elected, I see a bright future for Greece. We don't have to reinvent the wheel, we have former town employees that have retired yet are willing to help. We are in contact with residents from every political persuasion and affiliation that are helping us now. They can't wait to clean up the mess created by the current administration. Republicans, Independents, Democrats, Working Families, true fiscal conservatives, unaffiliated voters--are all reaching out to help restore the integrity and good government in the Town of Greece. I am up to the challenge and fully intend to make Greece the best place to live, work, and raise a family.

6) Why should we vote for you?

As the current president of the United Auto Workers Union (Local 1097) here in Rochester, I am qualified to run a large organization. I know how to run a tight budget, make sound personnel appointments (hiring decisions), and run good meetings. I have been active in our local political committee since moving back to Greece in 1995. Through the committee, I have made friends and contacts with Federal, State, and local politicians, and community groups. These contacts will serve me well in elected office.

As a member of the Lexington Avenue Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee, I have served in an auditing capacity to ensure sound financial oversight for the members and investors in the Credit Union. As a voice on the board, I belp maintain the highest level of service and return on investments for all stake holders. This financial background will also serve me well in elected office.

I have held press conferences with Senator Chuck Schumer, Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, and Congressman Eric Massa dealing with both job retention and more importantly, job creation. I have been a strong voice in pushing for making our region the epicenter of hydrogen fuel cell research and development, as well as final assembly and production. This infinitely renewable, totally green technology has the potential to take off and create thousands of jobs in our area. We can fill up those empty buildings at Kodak rather than knocking them down. We can have hundreds of new families move in rather than moving out. We can fill up the tax coffers that pay for our brave men and women in uniform; military, police, firefighters, EMT's. These are private sector jobs that will create new wealth for our town, state and nation.

Keeping the Faith in My Greece Police Department

Various blogs area abuzz about the Greece Police Department once again. Anonymous posters are posting how corrupt Greece cops are, naming names because perhaps they had been given a speeding ticket or a DWI by this particular officer. It's unfortunate that all this negative media coverage is courtesy of none other than John Auberger.

I am not joining the band wagon and saying the entire Greece Police Department is corrupt. There are too many good police officers continuing to do their job during this very difficult time. I can't imagine why someone would even want to be a law enforcement officer with the kind of treatment they receive on a daily basis. I can't imagine what our Police Officers in the Town of Greece are going through this very moment as I write this blog.

The police function is a critical function in any society. Police officers need to be fair and respected in order to conduct their function effectively.

These anonymous posters have the freedom to hide their identies behind the internet. Showing total disrespect for the Police Officers who they will immediately call when an emergency rises. How ironic is that?

Shame on John Auberger for bringing SHAME on our police department. The trail of corruption starts at Town Hall. You continue to blame everyone else and refuse to take responsibility for your actions.

To the innocent Greece Police Officers caught up in this Auberger Scandal, I want you to know there are plenty of Greece Citizens who still respect your committment to the service of our community. Keep your head held high. Have faith that a new and better leader will soon be guiding you. His name is Dan Maloney.

Auberger And His SECRET Town Board Meetings

John Auberger fired Sgt. Brian Ball and demoted Thomas Schamerhorn to officer this morning in a SECRET Town Board Meeting. Of course he can't comment on it because it's a personnel matter. He said it was discussed in executive session. We all know they don't discuss at Town Board Meetings. Auberger doesn't discuss anything. He doesn't know how to hold an open forum. That's why he cut the public speaking time at Board Meetings from five minutes to three minutes. He doesn't want to hear what we the citizens of Greece have to say. Hope everyone is beginning to realize this. It's his way or the highway. And now for the Auberger quote of the day courtesy of YNN News:

"We appreciate their patience and when this whole investigation is in its' latter stages, I would say to them, please be patient for a little longer and when this whole issue is resolved, the Greece Police Department will be even better than what it is today and that I can assure you and we're working very hard to rectify this unfortunate situation."

Didn't Loszynski tell us just the other day he hoped to have it wrapped up by Labor Day? Now Auberger is telling us when the investigation is in its' latter stages. When will that be Mr. Auberger when you have fired every police officer we have to cover your own back? How much has it cost us for your silly witchhunt?

Will John Auberger's Witch Hunt Ever End?

I'm all for an independent investigation into the Greece Police Department, but what we have taking place right now, is not INDEPENDENT. And it is far from it. It's Auberger blaming everyone else. What else is new from our Town Supervisor? Good police officers are caught up in this witchhunt and it is unfortunate.

Do you really think Mr. Auberger that the Town of Greece residents are dumb enough to believe that you intend to hold Merritt Rahn's public hearing before election day? Come on Mr. Auberger. Don't insult our intelligence. You will find reasons to extend the so-called internal investigation and postpone any public hearings until after election day. At which time, you will be looking for new employment.

Mr. Auberger if you expect us to believe that you knew nothing of the Town Assessor fiasco, nothing of what transpired in our police department, and you have nothing to do with Roger Boily on the Greece School Board, then you are not qualified to be a town supervisor.

An effective leader takes responsibility for his or her actions Mr. Auberger. Stop blaimg everyone and hold yourself and your fellow Republicans accountable for what has transpired in our once respectable town.

Promoting Prostitution Indictment

According to both the Democrat & Chronicle and WHEC TV Channel 10, a grand jury has indicted James E. Polaski for third degree promoting prostitution in the Town of Greece. He is the owner of Elite Body Spa and Tub & Tan.

If Mr. Polaski is smart, he will use his client list as a bargaining tool. Imagine who might be on that list.

Republican Shenanigans in the 2nd Ward!!!

I received an e-mail from Joe Moscato who is running for Town Council in the 2nd Ward and he asked that I share it with my readers:

"The 2nd ward is geographically the largest ward in the town. Originally it was the area roughly bordered by Mt. Read Bouleavard on the east, Ridge Road on the south, Long Pond Road on the West and Latta Road on the north. It also included some areas south of Ridge and 390 known as the Kodak Vista area." Joe states in his e-mail.

"The 2nd Ward was redistricted to give my opponent, Bob Bilsky, a greater ratio of Republican vs. Democrat voters and they have now carved out an area formerly in the 4th Ward which now includes areas south of Ridge Road in the Ridgemont area south to Straub Road to Elmgrove Road".

"At any rate, it's alot of area to cover and in order to meet as many people as I can, I will be holding a series of Town Hall meetings at places and times to be named later. It is my hope that these meetings will give me an opportunity to exchange ideas with Greece residents who truly care about their Town, to hear and deal with their concerns and express to them my plans to deal with those concerns when I am elected."

The Citizens of Greece need to wake up to these continued Republican shenanigans. Note to John Auberger: We do know it's serious business running town hall. Redistricting an entire area Mr. Auberger? If that's not the definition of a shenanigan, then tell me what is? I understand that this was not done recently. But what area will the Republicans redistrict next???

Debating John Auberger

With the presidential election only days away in Afghanistan, the candidates faced off in a nationally televised debate. It was the first time in this country's history that a sitting president participated in an american-style debate.

So if the Afghan people can demand a debate, why can't the citizens of Greece?

I am formally requesting Supervisor Auberger to debate Dan Maloney in a public forum. If Mr. Auberger is so proud of his track record then he should have nothing to hide and gladly accept this invitation. Talk to the people of Greece Mr. Auberger. Give us some answers. Take some responsibility for your actions starting with the whole Town Assessor situation. When will the scandals end Mr. Auberger? How many lawsuits will the tax paying citizens have to pay for on your behalf? How long will it take for our town to repair the image that it now has thanks to you?

Shall we mention the scandals created during your term? Town Assessor kickback? Steve Walts and Greece School Board? Greece Police Department? I'm waiting for your reply Mr. Auberger. The clock is ticking.
